Sublustrum is a first-person psychological horror adventure by Phantomery Interactive — a full Unreal Engine 5 remake of the 2008 cult classic Outcry. Track the release date, join the Steam playtest, watch the trailer and explore the Flickering World.
Sublustrum is a first-person psychological horror adventure developed by Phantomery Interactive and published by Brickworks Games. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it is a complete remake of Outcry (released in Russia and Poland under this title), the 2008 cult adventure that won Best Adventure Game and Best Sound at the KRI Awards.
You play as a writer investigating the mysterious disappearance of your scientist brother, who left behind a strange machine. Repairing it pulls you into the Flickering World — a surreal realm where memory, sound and dreams intertwine. The entire setting is one giant musical instrument that must be tuned, and sound-driven puzzles are at the heart of the experience. Inspired by Jungian psychology and Kafkaesque fiction, the game explores grief and letting go.

Sublustrum does not have a single locked street date yet. The page you are reading tracks the Fall 2026 release window announced for the Unreal Engine 5 remake, and it is refreshed whenever Phantomery Interactive or publisher Brickworks Games share a new date. The Steam playtest is the other milestone to watch: playtest access lets a small group of players step into the Flickering World early, and every playtest round so far has been announced on the game's official Steam hub first. Bookmark this Sublustrum wiki and check the release date section above whenever a trailer drop or playtest email lands — the update stamp at the top of the page shows the last time our editors verified anything.
Expect first-person psychological horror adventure pacing rather than action: you play a writer reconstructing the disappearance of your scientist brother through the strange machine he left behind, and repairing it pulls you into the Flickering World, a surreal mirror of reality. Because the game is a full Unreal Engine 5 remake of the 2008 cult classic Outcry (the KRI Awards winner for Best Adventure Game and Best Sound), veteran players can expect puzzle-led exploration, atmospheric sound design and a story told without combat filler. Our Sublustrum tips cover how to prepare for that pacing — what to try in the playtest, how the remake compares to the original Outcry, and which platform the Fall 2026 release targets first.
